Resolution No. 2015-02 - Passed by Consensus

VG-TH Overlap

Whereas; Many Yukon First Nations (YFN) responsibilities and authorities of the YFN's are exercised within
		 the boundaries of the Traditional Territories, as identified in Section 2.9.1 of the
		 final Agreement;

Whereas; In many ways, an overlap area is a nobody's land where no YFN's has management authority
		 or associated rights;

Whereas; It would be advantageous for Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation (VGFN) to resolve its overlap with
		 Tr'ondek Hwech'in First Nations (THFN);

Whereas; VGFN/THFN overlap discussion have taken place over many years and a contiguous boundary
		 for the VGFN and THFN Traditional Territories has been recommended - a map and
		 descriptions of this is attached to form part of the Resolution;

Whereas; The respective government leaders met and agreed that the recommended contiguous
		 boundary is a reasonable basis for overlap resolution;

Whereas; VGFN Council has review the recommended contiguous boundary and approve this to be
		 brought before the GA for final decision;

Whereas; VGFN General Assembly has review the recommended contiguous boundary and believes
		 it to be in the best interest of both parties to resolve the overlap on this basis:

Therefore Be It Resolved;

That the VGFN GA approves the contiguous boundary for the VGFN/THFN Traditional Territories as
shown and described in Parts 1 and 2 Schedule A of this resolution, and;

That the VGFN GA directs VGFN Chief and Council to finalize a sharing accord with THFN based on
the principals of the sharing accord agreement set out in Schedule B of this resolution.
